This is an illustration for Prime Time Adventures, on the theme of celebrity adoration. (“Fan Mail” is a key component of the game.) PTA is one of those wonderful indie games that when it came out, made everybody spend a year or so saying “why should I play anything else, when I can just play this cool game and adapt it to the setting?” Vincent Baker has a knack for producing those, but Matt Wilson absolutely did it with PTA.
Matt is working on a new version of the text, to make it clearer and easier for new people to pick up on. (Another of those things about PTA is that, like a few other RPGs, it ended up being played incorrectly a lot, as people projected into the game assumptions they’d picked up from other indie role-playing games. Hence the need for a big, clarifying revision.)
I spend so much time drawing weird and fantastical things that when I try to draw something in the real world, it doesn’t always seem to measure up, but I am relatively happy with this one, if only because I think it does effectively capture its real world inspiration.
